Ally has a BA in English Literature and Visual Arts from Kenyon College where she was the recipient of an Academy of American Poets Prize, a John Crowe Ransom Prize in Poetry, and the Mary Hatcher Prize for Gender Studies. She has an MFA in Poetry from Syracuse University, where she worked as Editor in Chief at Salt Hill and taught undergraduate writing. She led hiking and bicycling trips in the Northeast and in California and Nevada before working in Austin, Texas as a literacy tutor with Literacy First, and as a creative arts instructor at Creative Action. She has taught poetry at The Putney School Summer Arts Programs in Putney, Vermont, and writing and composition at Syracuse University. She currently lives in New York and teaches undergraduate and creative writing in in New York and Jersey City.
